On Torture by the Police - in the U.S. and Elsewhere
Posted on June 14, 2007. Here are links to a particularly distressing police scandal in Chicago, where people were systematically tortured duriung a time span of more than two decades. A later book-length study by investigative reporter John Conroy who was the one to blow the lid off all this revealed what we all should know but often pretend not to know: The capacity to torture is not a question of nationality - it is probably in all of us once given too much unchecked power.
